One of my molars is missing because when I was in school we were poor and had to go to the Indian Hospital. That's the nice thing they do when you're poor and can't afford health insurance and happen to be a descendant of people that were forcibly removed and systematically killed by a foreign government -- they let you have students operate on you for free. I had to get a root canal, but they left part of the tooth in. I took it out myself.
